Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) has received the final report on the compliance of the National Statistical System of Latvia with the requirements of the European Statistics Code of Practice (CoP). The report provides the peer review team's vision of the situation in area of statistics in Latvia, and the experts have acknowledged that there is a high level of compliance with the CoP throughout the National Statistical System in Latvia.

The report includes recommendations for development in areas related to strengthening the institutional environment, ensuring adequate resources, strengthening the orientation towards users, improving statistical processes, improving accessibility of statistical releases.

During the peer review of the European Statistical System (ESS), from February 20-24 of 2023 more than 70 representatives of various Latvian institutions and organizations, as well as data providers and users were interviewed. The team of experts was introduced to the progress and innovations made in the National Statistical System in Latvia over the past few years.

During the period from June 2021 to June 2023, such reviews were carried out in the statistical institutions of all EU member states and the countries of the European Free Trade Association, as well as in the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat). In Latvia such audit has already taken place twice – in 2006 and 2014.
