Purpose of introduction

Common compilation of water use and protection registration data on each water body.

Classification object

Water bodies (lakes, water reservoirs, ponds) fully or partially located in the territory of the Republic of Latvia the mirror surface of the water whereof takes at least 10 ha or which are well-known in the surrounding area.

Area of application
  • statistics on water resources; 
  • provision of water resources management bodies (legal and natural persons) with accessible and readily usable information.

Approved by the Regulations of the Cabinet No 403 “Regulations on Classification of Water Bodies” of 4 July 2017.
